Discipline determines your life. “I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings. Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.” (1 Corinthians 9:23-27). In order to run a race we need discipline. We know we are running to win; the question is “to win what?”
We need discipline in our personal life. Your discipline or lack of it will determine your future. “Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:7-8). If we want to have Self-discipline we have to make choices in our lives, we will have to say no to a lot of people. Define your goal, what is your purpose in life? What are you living for? Name something with great value that does not require discipline. You will have to meet some requirement “how much value do you deposit in your goal.” You have to be diligent and say “I may want to, but is not going to happened”. Say “No” in the power of the Holy Spirit. Control yourself in the power of the Holy Spirit and it will develop character. Then you will reap the “Rewards”, you will be happier, fell good about yourself, will be more productive, will have a positive impact on others, and see a sense of going on the right direction. If we will stand one second with Jesus, and see all the rewards He brings, no one have to talk to you anymore about “discipline”. How I start to be discipline: Read the word of God everyday; Pray; Tithe your money; and attend worship every Sunday. We do practice discipline with our relationship with the Lord. Do not get into anything that it is not going to lead you to growing. Be a valuable servant of God.
You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. O LORD, what a great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. Psalm 92:5-6
