But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the LORD sends rain and the crops grow again!” So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the LORD had promised through Elijah. 1 King 17:13-16

During a famine, God told the prophet Elijah to go to a widow’s home because she could take care of him. When he got there, he asked for something to eat (she was gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then her son and her will die (see 1 Kings 17:12) but, she agreed (in the natural she was giving Elijah her last resource)  and then she said, “This is my last little bit of food.” Notice one thing “She agreed” He said to her “Don’t be afraid! And then “There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers” (1 Kings 17:14).We have to be willing, we have to trust and then we will see. I heard somebody said, “Everyone wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die first”. “When troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow” (James 1:2-3). The word “Endurance” means 1. A state or quality of lasting or duration; lastingness; continuance. 2. The act of bearing or suffering; a continuing under pain or distress without resistance, or without being overcome; sufferance; patience.

How many wonderings do we have? How it is growing our endurance? God is a supernatural God. He supersedes the laws of nature. He created all. God controls all. He can cause anything that may look impossible to be possible if it is his will for us. We can do everything we know to do to make right decisions. How can we know if we are right? We can’t. We have to trust God to keep us in His will, straighten out any crooked paths in front of us, keep us on the narrow path that leads to life, and keep us off the broad path that leads to destruction (see Matthew 7:13).

We must meet (ourselves). Meditate on what you do, how you act, what do you think, your priorities, and then meet the real you. When we meet ourselves we can be in a better position to improve, we can be in a better position to ensure, and to change. All the masterpieces of art contain both light and shadow. A happy life is one filled not only with sunshine, but one which uses both light and shadow to produce beauty.
